Adopt-A-Child News Dates To Remember Sunday, December 4 - Final day to choose a child to buy for Sunday, December 11 - All Gifts wrapped & returned to CCPC Thursday, December 15& 16 - Sort & Load |

|
PLEASE NOTE:
December 4 is the final Sunday for adopting a child for Christmas and helping to provide them not only with gifts but with memories of a better Christmas, We have over 100 children left to adopt and by December 4 to do it.
Please take a moment to visit the hallway between the Welcome Center and Kirk Hall and take a child or two to adopt. If a child has asked for something that you and I both know is much too expensive, please remember these children have no concept of what something costs, just that everyone else seems to have it and they see it on TV all the time! Please just skip that request and choose something you think they might like or even a gift card. While everyone likes to shop for the young children, the teenagers are usually left but they are the ones who always seem to be forgotten – but they are still children!. If you haven’t “adopted” a child yet, please consider doing so, and if you have, thank you and consider another!

WHAT IT IS:
The Adopt-A-Child for Christmas Ministry at Central College Church is sponsored by the Board of Deacons and provides Christmas gifts for children in the community. It is a very special opportunity for you to bring joy to a child at Christmas. Last year we provided gifts for 600 children! Families are referred to the Deacons from several local organizations including Grace Central Church, Old First Church, Central Community House, the Native American Indian Center, and the Mt. Vernon Avenue District Improvement Association. We also respond to our community by accepting referrals from our membership through Norma Ahlborn at 882-2347.

HOW IT WORKS:
When you “adopt” a child for Christmas you will receive information about the child which makes your shopping experience more personal and special. We ask you to spend between $25 and $50 on each child. If you are not able to shop but you would like to participate, we do accept cash donations which we use to buy presents for children who may not be adopted. If you care to make a tax-free cash donation, please stop by the church office and specify that your donation is for the Adopt-A-Child Ministry. You may also volunteer to help the Deacons by shopping for gifts, wrapping and sorting.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
If you’d like to help out with a one-shot offer of your time and have legible printing or handwriting, consider coming to our workshop on Tuesday, November 15th in Kirk Hall at 6:00 when we will be transferring the names and gift wishes of all 600 children to the trifolds from which the congregation picks their “adoptees.” Many hands make light work!
