 Meaningful Faith, Caring Community

Purpose

One of the strengths of the Presbyterian Women symbol is how new meanings continue to emerge, and this includes the purposes of this ministry at Central College.

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, PWM commits itself to:

Presbyterian Women’s Ministry Outreach Mission Giving

Description goThe Open Shelter, Inc. is an advocacy Center and Day Shelter for homeless and marginally housed people in Central Ohio. They provide crucial needs directly to those in crisis. The facility at 1037 Parsons Avenue serves as the hub for their Outreach services. There are hundreds of persons each day who are forced to live “in the open”, on the streets, in abandoned buildings, on railroad land and under bridges. This agency is also supported by our deacons and CCPC partners who make and deliver 176 sack lunches each month.

  • YWCA Family Center’s

The YWCA Family Center’s mission is to help families. They provide emergency shelter and services for families without homes. Many of these people are working poor and unable to meet high housing costs, and many are women raising children on their own. The 50-room center offers these families support, safety, a secure place to sleep and a place where they can get three healthy meals a day. They also provide job and family search resources, transportation services and a childcare program.

Beyond basic needs, their clinical team provides therapy and case management, and partner agencies provide resources, such as housing, transportation, health care, employment, education, addiction services, legal aid, government benefits, ID cards and more.
